Teign Shanty Festival 2019

What an absolutely brilliant weekend!  We are so grateful to everyone involved and to all the visitors who braved the weather.  Together you helped ensure the continued success of this event come rain or shine. Sincere thanks goes out to the performers who filled our towns with salty tunes for locals and visitors to enjoy and of course to our new maritime presenters who demonstrated great skills of old, told stories of the sea and provided singing workshops, a real treat and the cause of much buzz about town. Behind the scenes, the committee members, the Back Beach Boyz, their partners and the many, many volunteers who readily stepped forward to help ensure every base was covered, from hospitality and sound support through to collecting donations, selling programmes and merchandise.  Together you ensured a warm welcome and have made the Teign Shanty Festival 2019 the success it clearly is.  THANK YOU! Ice Factory early start today – 11am

Just a reminder of the earlier start for Maritime events  today – 11am sees a talk on maritime flags at at The Ice Factory upstairs, whilst at the same venue and time, Figurehead will run a singing workshop downstairs.

Gig rowing taster sessions cancelled due to high winds

The River Teign Rowing Club always puts safety above all else and so sadly, due to the very strong winds forecast for today, the Gig rowing taster sessions scheduled for 1pm-3pm have had to be cancelled. The Teign Shanty Festival would like to thank the River Teign Rowing Club for offering to run this and fingers crossed it can be part of the programme for next year.

                  Please note the changes to the published programme, which are detailed below. Please also note that, weather permitting, the River Teign Rowing Club taster Gig sessions will be going ahead on Sunday September 29th from 1pm until 3pm. Just head down to the area around the RNLI slipway, near to where the Teignmouth to Shaldon Ferry Boat lands and give it a go – no experience necessary and there will be friendly helpful people there to assist. Teignmouth Pavillions – festival merchandise on sale Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

  All the Teign Shanty Festival merchandise was on sale today in the Teignmouth Pavillions, but don’t worry if you missed it as it will be on sale there again tomorrow (Saturday 28th September) from 10am until 5pm. It will also all be on sale in the small marquee by the New Quay Inn from midday Saturday 28th September and again on Sunday 29th September. 100% cotton polo shirts with embroidered logo for just £25, 100% ORGANIC cotton T shirts for £15, stylish limited edition festival cold water bottles at just £6, enamel badges for £3 and, of course, the 132 page festival programme with all the timetable of performers and events, also just £3 – all profit from the sale of the programme will go to charity.
