NEW DATES FOR 2021 FESTIVAL: Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th September 2021 Dear Shanty folk, Please note that our 2021 festival dates have changed from the 17th, 18th and 19th September, to the 3rd, 4th and 5thSeptember. You may already be aware that, within a few days of each other, we and our good friends in Port Isaac announced the same date for our 2021 festivals!  Didn’t see that coming.  Turns out Port Isaac set their festival back to coincide with the tide and we brought our festival forward to coincide with the same tide…BOOM! As we announced our festival shortly after Port Isaac had announced theirs, we believe it’s only right and fair that we change our date in order to resolve this.  We also want to make sure we can all go to the Port Isaac festival! Covid-19 Announcement from the Teign Maritime Shanty Festival Committee 3rd July 2020 Dear all, Covid-19 has certainly brought many challenges for everyone and we sincerely hope you are managing to cope during these unprecedented and uncertain times. Having seen so many events not taking place this year, you will not be surprised to hear that in the best interests of all concerned, we have decided not to proceed with the 2020 Teign Maritime Shanty Festival. Despite recent easing of restrictions and updated government guidance there seems very little chance that the restrictions on large gatherings will be lifted soon and it appears likely that ‘social distancing’, in one form or another, will continue for some time, making a largely pub-based festival like ours not workable. We trust you will agree that this is the right decision. The welfare and safety of all involved in every aspect of our event, is a key priority for us.
